What does it cost to set up, fix or restructure a Facebook ad account?

A marketing specialist auditing advertising account structure and tracking

Short answer: Australian providers publicly advertise anything from $0 or $50 for basic Meta account creation to around $2,000 for a fuller setup. For a professional setup involving tracking, campaign structure and initial ads, $500 to $1,500 is common territory. A damaged account, complex tracking or a connected lead system can push the work higher. Ad spend is separate.

“Set up my Facebook ads” can mean creating a blank ad account in fifteen minutes. It can also mean recovering access, separating personal and business assets, verifying a domain, installing tracking, rebuilding campaigns, planning creative and connecting every lead to an instant reply. Those are not the same product, even when both quotes use the word setup.

This guide explains the price bands for Facebook and Instagram advertising through Meta, what changes the fee, and how to tell whether you need a quick repair or a complete rebuild.

Facebook ad account setup cost: the practical range

ScopePlanning rangeWhat it normally means
Basic account creation$0–$300Create or connect Business Portfolio assets, a page, payment method and basic access. Little or no strategy.
Audit and targeted repair$300–$800Inspect ownership, tracking and campaign errors, then fix a defined list of issues.
Campaign setup or restructure$500–$1,500Tracking checks, campaign architecture, audiences, ads, naming and reporting foundations.
Full setup with connected systems$1,500–$3,500+Account build plus landing pages, lead capture, CRM stages, instant replies, follow-up or substantial creative.

These are planning ranges, not a regulated rate card. The published market supports the overall spread, but providers bundle different things. The low end can be perfectly suitable if you only need clean access. It is not a substitute for a full sales and tracking system.

What Australian agencies publicly charge

The clearest way to avoid made-up averages is to look at current public offers. In August 2026, Just Digital Marketing listed setup tiers of $499, $599, $699 and $799. An Agency published setup between $500 and $1,500. WebApex listed a $1,500 one-off setup, while Slab Media advertised an $800 setup.

At the low end, Pulse Digital Agency published $50 for a new Meta Business account and no setup fee for an existing account. Humming Web advertised no setup fee while noting that many agencies charge $500 to $1,500 or more. Rise Marketing & Creative's cost guide places paid-social setup between $500 and $2,000.

Methodology and limits

I reviewed prices visible on eight Australian provider pages or package documents on 12 August 2026. Some quote before GST, some include GST and some make setup conditional on ongoing management. I have not treated every offer as identical or calculated a fake average. The sample is used to show the advertised market range and the importance of scope.

What a proper Meta setup should address

  1. Ownership and access. The business—not a former contractor's personal profile—should own the page, ad account, data sources and relevant domains. Partners receive access rather than ownership.
  2. Business structure. Assets need to sit in the correct Meta Business Portfolio with sensible permissions, payment details and security.
  3. Tracking. The pixel, events and where appropriate Conversions API should match the actions the business actually values. Event testing matters more than seeing a green status light.
  4. Campaign architecture. Campaign objective, budgets, audiences, placements and optimisation events should fit the sales process. Extra campaigns do not make an account more sophisticated.
  5. Creative and message. The ads need usable hooks, proof, offers and formats. A technically perfect account cannot rescue weak creative.
  6. Lead handling. Forms, landing pages, phone calls and messages need somewhere to go. Speed-to-lead and follow-up often determine whether paid enquiries become revenue.
  7. Reporting. Naming, UTMs and a clear view of spend and outcomes should exist before the first monthly report.

Do you need a repair or a complete restructure?

A targeted repair makes sense when ownership is clean, tracking is broadly correct and one identifiable issue is blocking progress. Examples include a disconnected pixel, an incorrect event, missing domain access or confusing permissions. Paying to rebuild everything would create activity without necessarily creating value.

A restructure is more sensible when nobody can explain the campaign logic, the account has years of duplicated campaigns, optimisation is aimed at the wrong event, tracking disagrees with the business's real leads, or every new promotion is added as another disconnected layer. Keep useful historical data, but rebuild the operating structure around the decisions you need to make now.

Do not delete history to make the account look tidy. A good restructure preserves useful assets and learnings, documents the new structure and changes only what improves control, measurement or delivery.

Why a $2,500 setup can be cheaper than a $500 setup

The price is only useful beside the result. A $500 campaign build may still leave the business manually downloading leads, replying hours later and guessing which enquiries booked. A larger setup that creates the landing page, captures the lead, sends the instant response, assigns follow-up and records the outcome solves more of the commercial problem.

That is why Reconnect Digital scopes connected Meta work before pricing it. It is not positioned as an account-only setup: the work can include tracking, campaign foundations, lead capture, instant replies, pipeline stages and follow-up around the advertising. Management, setup, creative and media are separated so the quote reflects the responsibility actually required.

If you already have reliable landing pages, CRM and follow-up, the scope should be smaller. A trustworthy provider removes work you do not need instead of forcing every client into the largest package.

What ongoing Facebook ad management costs

The same Australian sample shows monthly management from about $300 to $2,500. Pulse publishes $300 for lead-generation management and $500 for ecommerce. Scalepoint starts at $790. An Agency lists $1,250 to $1,500+, and WebApex lists $1,250, $1,750 and $2,500 tiers.

The fee should reflect how often the account needs decisions, new creative, offer changes, landing-page work and sales feedback. “Optimisation” should mean more than adjusting budgets. In a healthy engagement, someone is comparing lead quality, reviewing creative fatigue, testing messages and identifying whether the bottleneck is the advertising or what happens afterward.

Five red flags in a setup quote

  • No ownership detail: the provider cannot state which assets your business will own.
  • Guaranteed performance: setup improves control; it cannot guarantee a cost per lead or revenue result.
  • Tracking without testing: the quote says “pixel installed” but not which events will be checked.
  • No creative scope: nobody has said who writes, designs, films or approves the initial ads.
  • Media bundled into one number: you cannot see the professional fee separately from the money paid to Meta.

What to send before asking for a price

A provider can quote more accurately when you send the Business Portfolio ID, website, current monthly spend, target service or product, locations served, existing creative, lead destination and the problem you are trying to fix. Never send passwords. Grant partner or task access through Meta's permissions after you have agreed to proceed.

If the account is restricted or ownership is disputed, say so early. Some restrictions can be appealed; others require business verification or Meta support and cannot be guaranteed by an agency. That is a different scope from normal campaign setup.

The decision in one sentence

Pay for the smallest setup that leaves you with correct ownership, trustworthy tracking, a campaign structure you can explain, usable creative and a clear lead-handling path. If a quote does not say which of those it includes, the price is not yet comparable.
